Update the digital listening experience for WBEZ, Chicago’s public radio station with the design of a responsive website and iOS/Android apps for tablet and mobile devices.

I worked collaboratively with a remote team on an overhaul of the WBEZ digital platform. An iterative process, functionality was rolled out in several phases, making incremental improvements with each release.

Product managers gathered requirements and performed initial user research on the existing app. Collaboratively we refined concepts, working in InVision's Liveshare with their white boarding tool. Those concepts were then realized in wireframes to establish the user experience.

Final mockups were designed in Photoshop and stitched together in InVision for multiple rounds of feedback. Working with an aggressive timeline, product managers still managed to put in front of users allowing  time for minor fine-tuning.

This entire process was followed for both the responsive website and mobile and tablet radio apps to create robust and cohesive products for WBEZ and their listeners.

Responsive websiteThe established framework from the app was then applied to the website redesign.

Visual IdentityAs part of the project I also updated the visual identity of the WBEZ brand. Refining the overall look and feel to elevate brand credibility. A detailed style guide was created a for WBEZ to use in-house and with vendors to retain brand consistency.

ResultsThe resulting products position WEBZ to continue being the leading public radio for Chicago.

"Lesley was tasked with designing WBEZ's new digital product suite from branding to the most intricate and detailed facets of our App's interface. Since our launch the design and intuitiveness of our products have been widely lauded by our users."
